Maharashtra, HP, Hyderabad and Gujarat win league ties

CHENNAI: Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Hyderabad and Gujarat won their respective group league engagements in the BCCI All India Buchi Babu Cricket tournament on Friday. Afterscoring 308 all out in 85.3 overs on Thursday, Maharashtra's left-arm mediumpacer Samad Fallah (3/54), leggies Deepak Shilamkar (2/45) and offie GaneshGaikwad(2/38) took control and dismissed Andhra for 197 in 67 overs.In the other Group-A match, Himachal Pradesh comfortably beat Orissaby eight wickets scoring 201 for two chasing 197. Himachal openingbatsmen Hemant Dogra (62, 96b, 5x4; 1x6) and Abhinav Bali (52, 76b, 7x4, 2x6)laid the foundation with a solid 113 run first wicket stand in 23.4 overs.Then skipper Paras Dogra struck a whirlwind 70 off just 55 balls tomake sure of his team's first winning point in the tournament. Inanother match, Gujarat opener Avi Barot struck 110 (10x4, 2x6) and Sunny Patel'squickfire unbeaten 68 of 42 balls (6x4,3x6) helped Gujarat score 313 for five in80 overs.
