The possibility of Miley Cyrus headlining the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show has already sparked a louder reaction than some recent performances actually did. NFL insider Dov Kleiman pointed to prediction market Polymarket, where Cyrus currently sits as the betting favorite for the slot. That alone was enough to divide football fans online. Some see the pop star as the fresh jolt the halftime show needs after years of safe, heavily produced performances. Others are already preparing to tune out. What stood out most was not the disagreement itself, but how intensely fans defended their side.

Is Miley Cyrus the right pick for the 2027 Super Bowl Halftime show?

Supporters believe Cyrus checks several boxes the NFL has struggled to balance in recent years. She has mainstream recognition, crossover appeal and enough live-performance experience to handle the scale of the event. More importantly, many fans think she could bring back a raw concert feel that has slowly disappeared from halftime shows.
“Miley Cyrus halftime show would be an iconic Super Bowl moment,” wrote one fan.Another supporter framed the debate less around Cyrus herself and more around the league’s musical direction over the last decade.“It’s way overdue for the nfl to bring back rock n roll to the bowl.. we r clearly fed up with alll the past garbage ass shows..there
was only (1) good half time show in the past 10 yrs & that was prince.. bring back rock n roll..,” explained another person. Not every reaction leaned positive. Some fans questioned whether Cyrus still has the cultural momentum needed for a Super Bowl audience that stretches far beyond pop music listeners.“That’s so awful,” said someone else.“If it’s true, it will be another half time show I will skip,” claimed one fan.Others landed somewhere in the middle. They were not fully sold on Cyrus but also admitted the halftime show has struggled to satisfy viewers with different musical tastes. That frustration came through clearly in comparisons to legacy rock acts.
“I’d rather see Metallica for 20 minutes, but I have come to grips with the fact that we’re not going to get that halftime show,” said one individual.“Not great but would be an upgrade compared to the last several years,” admitted one person.“It would be the best halftime show in many years but would still suck,” said someone ironically. The reaction says as much about the current state of the Super Bowl halftime show as it does about Cyrus. Fans are no longer arguing over one artist. They are arguing over what the event is supposed to sound like now.
