When you’re an All-Pro NFL tight end like George Kittle, you’re used to being the biggest, toughest guy in the room. But as it turns out, even the stars of the San Francisco 49ers have to answer to a higher power: their moms.During a hilarious appearance on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast this week (March 17, 2026), Kittle finally dropped the "behind-the-scenes" truth about one of the most viral moments of last summer, Taylor Swift’s surprise acoustic performance at Tight End University (TEU) in Nashville.

Taylor Swift didn’t plan TEU performance—George Kittle says moms made it happen

We all remember the grainy fan footage from June 2025: Taylor standing on the stage at the Brooklyn Bowl, guitar in hand, playing "Shake It Off" for a room full of sweaty, 250-pound football players. At the time, everyone thought Travis Kelce had pulled some romantic strings to get his then-girlfriend (now fiancée!) to perform.
Not quite. According to Kittle, the credit goes to a very specific "marketing team.""The only reason she performed is because my mom, Jan, and my wife Claire’s mom were basically like, ‘You should totally sing,’" Kittle joked during the podcast. He laughed as he described the moms essentially cornering the world’s biggest pop star.
"They kind of bullied her into doing it!"Kittle was quick to realize that using the word "bullied" in the same sentence as Taylor Swift is a dangerous game. He immediately flashed that signature Kittle grin and walked it back before the internet could erupt."I’m kidding, obviously! No one bullies Taylor Swift. She was just being incredibly sweet and went with the flow. But my mom definitely didn't take 'no' for an answer at first!"Kittle went on to say that despite playing in front of 70,000 screaming fans every Sunday, the energy in that small Nashville bowling alley was unlike anything he’d ever felt. He credited Taylor not only for the performance but for helping recruit country superstar Luke Combs to join the set, making it the most legendary TEU after-party in history. With Taylor and Travis officially engaged as of late 2025, the bond between the Kelces and the Kittles seems stronger than ever. Fans are already wondering if Jan Kittle will be in charge of the wedding music, too!One thing is for sure: if George Kittle’s mom tells you to get on stage and sing, you’d better start warming up your vocal cords.
