Ric Flair has a history with author and former columnist Paul Finebaum and their heated feud has sprouted after The Nature Boy slammed Finebaum on X (formerly Twitter). Beyond professional wrestling, Flair has been seen as a sports enthusiast, especially football. The
WWE legend who has also been a pop-cultural significance over the years has vividly slammed Finebaum after his commentary.
Ric Flair lashes out at Paul Finebaum
On September 19, Ric Flair expressed his frustration with sports commentator Paul Finebaum via Twitter. In typical Flair fashion, using his signature all-caps style, he didn’t mince words. Flair called out Finebaum for previous remarks about key college football figures while standing up for his friends, Deion Sanders and coach Lincoln Riley.

WWE Superstar Asuka Shares Latest Progress on Injury RecoveryIn his opening remarks, the two-time WWE Hall of Famer brought up a previous statement made by Paul Finebaum on ESPN's First Take. Finebaum had reportedly questioned whether Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh would ever get an NFL job. Flair, with a touch of sarcasm, noted that the Los Angeles Chargers, now 2-0, have proven Finebaum wrong, and added that Harbaugh also took Michigan to a national championship.
“Throwback! Hey Paul Finebaum, do you remember telling everybody on First Take that Coach Harbaugh would never get a job in the NFL as the Chargers are currently 2-0, and Harbaugh won the national championship! HA!” Ric Flair wrote on X.
The WWE icon further took issue with Finebaum’s recent appearance on First Take. The sports analyst criticized Deion Sanders’ coaching skills with sports personality Stephen A. Smith. The 75-year-old then clarified that he was backing Sanders in the debate.
“Now you have the audacity to jump on Prime Time to debate with the great Stephen A. Smith about my friend Deion Sanders! You better pray to God that @UMichFootball beats @uscfb after the terrible things you’ve said about Lincoln Riley, who I will defend forever,” Flair wrote.
Their feud is not new, last year, following his signing with AEW, The Nature Boy took to X calling out Finebaum. “Thank You @DesmondHoward For Putting @Finebaum In His Place!” Flair wrote on X in November last year.
“You’re Right Michigan Is America’s Team! And The Only Person With Personal Issues Is A Non-Athletic SEC Journalist That Should Leave The Great @CoachJim4UM & @UMichFootball Alone. Can You Imagine Paul Finebaum Having The Nerve To Debate Football With Heisman Trophy Winner Desmond Howard? OUTRAGEOUS! Go Blue!,” he added with his signature “WOOOOO!”
