Sony confirms end of major updates for Ghost of Yotei multiplayer mode

Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed that the Legends multiplayer mode for Ghost of Yotei will not receive any more major updates, just months after the online mode launched earlier this year. The announcement was made by Gillen McAllister – Manager, Content Communications, Sony Interactive Entertainment in a post shared on the PlayStation Blog. While the latest Raid update adds new content to the game, the studio said it will be the final major expansion for Legends mode. “The Raid update was our last major planned update for Legends. It finishes the story of the Yōtei Six in that mode. We’ve loved to see players playing it, continue to play it and enjoy it. It’s been great,” the blog stated quoting Lead Designer Darren Bridges.In the PlayStation Blog post, Darren Bridges who said the newly released Raid update marks the conclusion of the studio’s major plans for Legends mode. The latest update launched on April 10 and mainly focused on new Raid-related content for online players.Ghost of Yotei launched exclusively for PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025. Developer Sucker Punch later announced the free Legends multiplayer expansion in February this year before releasing it on March 10.The studio has not explained why it decided to stop major content development so soon after launch. It also did not clarify how long smaller updates such as bug fixes, balancing changes or technical patches would continue.The move has surprised many players because Sucker Punch supported Ghost of Tsushima Legends for a long time after its launch in 2020.The earlier multiplayer mode received:Because of that history, many fans expected Ghost of Yotei Legends to receive long-term support as well.Despite the update news, Ghost of Yotei remains one of Sony’s major PlayStation 5 releases. Sony previously said the game “significantly” contributed to its financial results earlier this year.The game also received positive reactions from players and critics after launch for its open-world design, visuals and combat experience.
