Get lost in a fairytale setting – Built in late 19th century, Neuschwanstein Castle was originally meant to be an isolated retreat for the King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Located on the hilltop village near Füssen, it is one of the most photographed castles of Europe. This fairytale castle has served as the model for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty castle. Neuschwanstein castle is a fine example of castle romanticism – an architectural style, which was inspired by the operas of Richard Wagner. King Ludwig II died soon before the construction was about to complete. The castle was opened to the public soon after his death to recover the exorbitant cost of the castle. The castle can be reached by a two-hour train ride from Munich. Visit to the castle is like visiting a fairyland. If the impressive exterior facade has left you stunned, wait till you visit the interior. The Throne Hall, the Drawing Room, the Study Room, and every other aspect of this retreat bear the signature style of the creative king. The best vantage point to capture beautiful images of the castle is from Marie's Bridge across the castle. The memory of magnificent Schloss Neuschwanstein rising above the clouds is going to linger lifetime!
