Neuschwanstein Castle

Get lost in a fairytale setting – Built in late 19th century, Neuschwanstein Castle was originally meant to be an isolated retreat for the King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Located on the hilltop village near Füssen, it is one of the most photographed castles of Europe. This fairytale castle has served as the model for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty castle. Neuschwanstein castle is a fine example of castle romanticism – an architectural style, which was inspired by the operas of Richard Wagner. King Ludwig II died soon before the construction was about to complete. The castle was opened to the public soon after his death to recover the exorbitant cost of the castle. The castle can be reached by a two-hour train ride from Munich. Visit to the castle is like visiting a fairyland.
