One cannot come to Calgary or live in Calgary without loving Spolumbo’s, is it just that good. The story behind it isn’t that bad either; three first generation Italian-Canadian boys who loved to cook and play football. Tom, Mike and Tony grew up together, playing on the CFL Calgary Stampeders football team and making sausages after-hours to sell to other restaurants before saving the money to open their own. What was once a 10-seater deli has become one of the most loved places to eat in the city. This is not your fancy, fine dining restaurant though, it is a true deli where you get in line to place your order, grab a glass bottle of Coca-Cola and dig in into one of their famous sausages on the bun. If sausages aren’t your forte this deli has more than enough choices of sandwiches, Panini’s, soups and salads. Perhaps what makes this deli the most special is the owners and all they do for the residents of the community of Inglewood, where they are based and how well they treat their patrons. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself chatting to one of the owners while you dine.
