The rescue and the assault case
For the uninitiated, Jaya Bhattacharya rescued Vijay from Naigaon, a suburb of Mumbai, when he was just about 1.5 months old. According to the Free Press Journal, the puppy had been sexually assaulted in the Tivari Gaon area. Jaya earlier revealed that an FIR was registered and the accused was taken into custody, but later released on bail.
Speaking about the case, she said, “We filed an FIR, cops caught the man, but he was later released on bail.
Now we are waiting and wondering how do we get justice for this puppy.” She also stressed that the issue goes beyond one animal and reflects a larger failure to protect the voiceless.
