Tensions exploded outside the Delaney Hall ICE detention facility in Newark, New Jersey, as anti-ICE protesters clashed with law enforcement during a demonstration linked to a reported hunger strike inside the center. According to reports, nearly 300 detainees have been refusing food for four consecutive days, intensifying concerns over conditions at the privately operated immigration facility. Videos from the scene showed officers pushing demonstrators back, making arrests, and deploying pepper spray after protesters allegedly blocked law enforcement vehicles and threw objects. The Department of Homeland Security defended the response, stating officers used the “minimum amount of force necessary” after repeated warnings were ignored.
