According to NPR News, citing a U.S. official, two E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft — critical airborne command and control platforms — were knocked out during the March 27 strike at Prince Sultan Air Base. Earlier reports indicated that at least one of these high-value assets was destroyed beyond repair. In a further blow, one to three KC-135 refueling aircraft — vital for sustaining U.S. air operations — were also reportedly targeted in the strike. The attack also left more than a dozen U.S. service members injured, raising serious concerns about operational readiness in the region.
