Uttar Pradesh will lead Census 2027 with a massive two-phase exercise beginning May 2026. The operation will deploy nearly five lakh personnel across 75 districts, covering over 1.04 lakh villages and 783 towns.The census introduces digital self-enumeration for the first time and will include caste-based data collection at the individual level — a first since 1931. The exercise is expected to play a crucial role in shaping future policy decisions through detailed demographic and socio-economic data.
