Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee will not appear before the CID today in the alleged fake signature case linked to the West Bengal Assembly LoP election row. According to AITC sources, he has formally informed the CID through a letter sent via his lawyer. The case relates to allegations of forged signatures of TMC MLAs on a May 19 letter supporting the selection process for the Leader of Opposition. The CID, which has formed a Special Investigation Team headed by a DIG-rank officer, is examining discrepancies between disputed signatures and official Assembly records. The investigation continues, with multiple leaders already questioned and forensic verification of signatures underway.
