Vladimir Putin Defends India And China, Says Donald Trump’s Tariffs Colonial Tactics Will Not Work

Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a sharp warning to Washington, declaring that “the colonial era is over” after Donald Trump’s aggressive tariff moves against India and China. Speaking in Beijing after the SCO summit, Putin said the US “cannot talk to India or China that way,” stressing that economic bullying of two billion-strong nations with powerful economies and sovereign systems is doomed to fail. He argued that Trump’s tariffs mimic colonial tactics and will only damage long-term dialogue. The Russian leader praised India and China’s leadership and warned the West against undermining their sovereignty. Meanwhile, Trump doubled down, imposing secondary sanctions on India over Russian oil imports and threatening “phase two” and “phase three” actions. The clash sets the stage for a global trade and geopolitical standoff, with Moscow firmly backing India and Beijing against Washington’s tariff ‘dadagiri.’
