AGARTALA: The President on Tuesday appointed Jharkhand high court judge Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh as the Chief Justice of Tripura high court, which has been lying vacant for the last few months.
Justice Singh (58) got enrolled as an advocate and practised at the Patna high court and shifted Jharkhand high court in 1990 till his elevation as additional judge of the high court of Jharkhand in 2012.
He has also served as the acting Chief Justice of the Jharkhand high court between December 22, 2022, and February 19, 2023.
The post of Chief Justice at Tripura high court has been lying vacant since the retirement of Justice Indrajit Mahanty on November 10 last year.

Kiren Rijiju tweeted about the appointment saying, “As per the relevant provisions under the Constitution of India, the President of India has appointed Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Justice of the Jharkhand High Court as the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court.”
