Red outfit, white cloth on head: Video shows woman running with burning object in hands on busy Ahmedabad road
AHMEDABAD: A viral video showing a woman running on a busy road, carrying a burning object, has prompted Airport police to register an FIR and launch an investigation into the incident.
According to the complaint filed by constable Niteshkumar Hanuman on Thursday, police personnel were present at the Surveillance Squad police chowki around 12.30pm when they came across a video posted on a social media platform.
The video shows a woman dressed in a red sari-like outfit with a white cloth covering her head, running on a public road, holding a burning object in her hands. Concerned that the act could endanger motorists, pedestrians and other road users, officers immediately brought the clip to the attention of senior officials and began verifying the location.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the incident appeared to have taken place on the stretch of road connecting Airport Circle and Jhanda Circle in the city. Police said the woman was seen moving on the public road with the burning object, creating a potential risk of injury or damage to persons and property in the vicinity.
Airport police have registered a case under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita pertaining to negligent conduct involving fire or combustible matter. Officials said the woman’s identity was not immediately known. Police began examining CCTV footage from the area and analyzing the viral video to establish the exact circumstances of the incident and trace the woman.
Police said further action will be taken once her identity and the motive behind the act are determined. Officers are also verifying whether the incident caused any disruption to traffic or posed an immediate threat to public safety.
