Neo-natal ward yet to resume services

AHMEDABAD: No one will forget the infamous incubator at Shardaben hospital that charred a three-year-old infant to death, with authorities grappling for a reasonable explanation for the tragedy.
This very neo-natal ward has been closed for the last three months causing inconvenience to hundreds of women who come for deliveries at the hospital. Despite several assurances the health department of the AMC is yet to install new incubators at the neo-natal ward and make them functional.Instead, families are being directed to neo-natal wards of private nursing homes.
"We have been assured yet again that a company from Bangalore has been approached to provide new incubators for the ward. The health department has not committed a definite time as to when the neo-natal ward will resume services," says member AMC's hospital committee Iqbal Sheikh.
