TIRUPATI: A 39-year-old man who helped his friend by extending guarantee for the hand loans he took in the past, was murdered by money lenders at CK Dinne in YSR district.
The deceased was identified as P Srikanth Reddy, a resident of Utukuru village in CK Dinne mandal.
According to the Kadapa rural circle inspector K Ashok Reddy, Srikanth Reddy's friend Sathya Narayana took Rs.20 lakh loan from A Chaitanya Kumar Reddy and A Leela, both residents of Kadapa.
After Sathya Narayana defaulted the repayment and the money lenders started harassing him, Srikanth Reddy came to his friend's rescue and promised the money lenders that he would return the money if his friend Sathya Narayana couldn't repay them.
But when Sathya Narayana and Srikanth Reddy started ignoring their calls, Chaitanya Reddy and Leela along with their five other friends kidnapped Srikanth Reddy on May 31 and they tortured him severely for two days.
When Srikanth Reddy who couldn't take the beating anymore, succumbed to injuries on June 1st, the seven accused led by Chaitanya Reddy, took Srikanth Reddy's body to an isolated spot near Buggaleti palli, poured petrol and set his body ablaze in a bid to destroy any traces related to his death.
But the CK Dinne police who registered a case on June 2, managed to crack the case by arresting all the seven accused involved in the heinous
murder.
The accused arrested by the police include A Chaitanya Reddy, A Leela, M Chamundeswari, S Siva Prashanth Yadav, J Uday Kiran, S Venkata Sai and K Mohan Chandra.
What shocked even the police was the involvement of two women and two engineering students in the gruesome murder.
