Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Zilla Parishad (ZP) has announced a special survey to locate adult illiterates in the district.It will be carried out from June 15 for five days. The exercise will trace citizens aged above 15 years who cannot read and write.ZP CEO, Minnu PM said the survey will be carried out as a part of the New India Literacy Programme (NILP) also known as ULLAS (Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram). It is a centrally sponsored adult education scheme aligned with the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020.“The main objective of the programme is to make illiterate persons of the age of 15 years and above literate. Education is imparted to identified beneficaries with the help of volunteers,” she said.The CEO said the adult education scheme focuses on basic literacy and numeracy, life skills, vocational skills, basic education and continuing education.Under the programme, a target of making over 47,000 adult illiterate persons literate has been given to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for the year 2026-27.The ZP administration has instructed all Sarpanchs and Gram Panchayat-level officers to engage in preparing a list of illiterate persons in the village. The official database of identified beneficiaries will be uploaded on the ULLAS portal of the govt.
