Key UBT leader Datta Gordejoins BJP in Sambhajinagar

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Shiv Sena (UBT) deputy district president for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Datta Gorde, joined the local unit of the BJP on Monday.Gorde, who is a former Paithan municipal council president, leaving Sena (UBT) added more worries for the Uddhav Thackeray-led party ahead of Zilla Parishad (ZP) polls.Gorde expressed his resolve to work for development, good governance, and public welfare while remaining loyal to the ideology of BJP. "My political experience would benefit the party's organisational strengthening in the future," the former Paithan municipal council president said. Considered a close aide of BJP leader Raosaheb Danve, Gorde earned distinction as a turncoat for frequently shifting his political loyalties.Gorde unsuccessfully fought the last two assembly elections from Paithan. In the previous election, he lost as a Sena (UBT) candidate, while in 2019 he faced defeat as an NCP candidate. He was with BJP before the 2019 assembly polls but joined NCP after the Paithan seat went to Shiv Sena in seat-sharing talks. His wife was in the race for the last election to the Paithan municipal council president but faced defeat.
