Bengaluru: An attempt to steal valuables was foiled after a car owner received a late-night alert from a passer-by, saying miscreants were smashing the windows of Maruti Swift Dzire, Maruti Ertiga and a Toyota Innova parked in Rajendra Nagar.
One of the suspects, identified as Kalib, was caught by residents and handed over to police.
The incident happened around midnight on June 8. According to the complaint filed by social activist David Kumar N, around 11.30pm, a passer-by called and informed him that a group was vandalising his Swift Dzire car. He immediately rushed to the spot and found a man sitting inside his car after smashing the window glass, while others escaped.
David alleged that he had left pen drives and documents related to a govt land encroachment dispute that is currently before a court in his vehicle and claimed the vandals damaged his car to steal these documents.
The miscreants similarly targeted two other vehicles parked in the vicinity. A case was registered at Koramangala police station under Sections 303 (theft) and 324 (mischief) of the BNS.
