BANGALORE: Mystic artist K N Narayana Murthy intended to pay homage to Jesus Christ with a series of about 50 paintings for Good Friday. "I create images of all Gods, but for
Good Friday, I wanted to do something different," said the 70-year-old.
What is singular about his work is that he uses the inkblot technique, mastered over a period of 64 years. Ink is applied on one half of a sheet of paper, this is then folded over the other half to get symmetrical designs on the entire sheet.
"I started when I was six and never looked back ever since.
It is a tribute to Swiss psychologist Hermann Rorschach and Indian ornithologist Salim Ali," says this former HAL designer.
His penname `Ma.na.ni' stands for Manovignanika Narayana Murthy's Niguda, meaning hidden or abstract creations. With over 142 exhibitions and 15 lakh inkblots under his belt, Murthy still appears to have a passion for discovering the unknown with his works.
