Bhopal: A 21-year-old cafe operator died allegedly by suicide at his house in Satyagyan Colony under Chhola police station limits on Thursday afternoon. No suicide note was recovered from the spot. Preliminary investigation suggests that the youth was distressed over losses incurred in online gaming.
According to police, Yash Pratap Singh Meena, 21, was a BA final-year student and also operated a cafe in the Gandhi Nagar area. He lived with his family in Satyagyan Colony.
Family members told police that Yash was at home on Thursday afternoon. Around 3.30 pm, he allegedly hanged himself inside his room. When he did not respond for a long time, relatives forced open the door and found him hanging.
He was immediately taken down and rushed to a private hospital in Bhanpur, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police said no suicide note was found during the investigation. A case has been registered and the body was handed over to the family after post-mortem examination. His mobile phone has been seized for further investigation.
Yash was the elder of two brothers. His father, Murari Meena, who works in a private company, told police that Yash had earlier suffered financial losses while playing online games.
He had reportedly lost money again recently and was worried that family members would reprimand him if they came to know about it.
Police suspect that the fear and stress arising from the losses may have driven him to take the extreme step, though the exact reason behind the suicide will be established only after a detailed probe.
Police said further investigation is underway.
