Bhopal: President
Droupadi Murmu will visit Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh’s Sheopur district on June 21 as part of her five-day tour covering Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Odisha.
The President is expected to arrive at Kuno on the evening of June 21 after attending
International Yoga Day celebrations in
Jabalpur and a convocation ceremony at Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya. She will travel by helicopter from Gwalior and stay overnight at the Kuno guest house, sources said.
Murmu is scheduled to visit the national park on the morning of June 22 before departing for Delhi.
Kuno National Park, the centrepiece of India’s cheetah reintroduction programme, currently houses African cheetahs brought from Namibia and South Africa, along with cubs born in India. Security and administrative preparations are expected to be intensified ahead of the President’s visit, officials said.
Prior to Kuno, the President will visit Omkareshwar on June 18 and attend an International Sickle Cell Day programme on June 19. On June 21, she will participate in Yoga Day events in Jabalpur before heading to Sheopur.
