Man slits throats of wife, daughter

KEONJHAR: A 35-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his wife and four-year-old daughter brutally by slitting their throats. His nine-year-old son was seriously injured in the incident too and was admitted to the Anandpur sub divisional hospital for treatment.
The incident took place at about 2 pm on Sunday in Fakirpur village under Anandapur police station area, when the victims were sleeping in their house after lunch.The villagers detained the accused and informed police.
Police found the bodies lying in a pool of blood and sent them to the Anandpur sub divisional hospital for postmortem.
According to the villagers, the man, identified as Biswanath Sethy, was mentally ill. Biswanath told police that Maa Tarini gave him the weapon and ordered him to kill his wife and daughter. The deceased woman was identified as Bayani Sethy (32), the girl as Sakuntala Sethy (4) and the injured boy as Badal Sethy (9). Doctors said Badal's condition is stable.
Police registered a murder case against the accused in Anandpur police station and are investigating the incident.
"The dead bodies were seized and sent for postmortem. The accused is arrested. Investigation is going on. The man suddenly attacked his wife and children by cutting their throat with a sharp weapon. His son was injured and admitted to Anandpur sub divisional hospital," said Anandpur IIC Subodh Mallick.
