Bank fraud: Senior officials not being acted against, says Dushyant
Chandigarh: Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) leader and former deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala claimed on Monday that several senior officials and individuals linked to the govt were involved in the misappropriation of state funds worth thousands of crores deposited in three private banks, yet no action was being taken against them.Describing the suicide of a govt employee, who allegedly jumped from the eighth floor of the Haryana secretariat, as unfortunate, Dushyant said that due to a lack of appropriate action, lower-level employees were under immense pressure and losing their lives. The former deputy CM said senior-most officials and individuals connected to the govt were involved in the alleged misuse and embezzlement of thousands of crores of Haryana govt funds deposited in private banks. He said while senior officials linked to the case had only been suspended or transferred, four mid-level officials had been terminated from govt service and arrested.Dushyant said the govt was allowing senior officials to escape accountability by citing the need for official sanction before taking action against them, even as no action was being taken against private individuals associated with the ruling party, who allegedly acted as intermediaries between banks and govt departments.
He further claimed that the employee who lost his life on Monday was under investigation, while many influential individuals involved continued to move freely.Dushyant said three people had either fallen or jumped off from the Haryana Civil Secretariat building in the last few months. He urged the state govt to take this matter seriously and demanded a review of safety arrangements across secretariat balconies.MSID:: 130804140 413 |
