Court has asked for a recording of the episode of the television reality show in which Harbhajan Singh performed his infamous 'Ravana act'.
CHANDIGARH: A court here has asked for a recording of the episode of the television reality show in which Harbhajan Singh performed his infamous 'Ravana act' even as a formal complaint was lodged against the cricketer for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. Chief Judicial Magistrate Kanchan Mahi took on record evidences submitted by complainant Vijay Singh Bhardwaj, spokesman of VHP's Punjab unit, Global Human Rights Organisation chairperson Arvind Thakur and Bajrang Dal and fixed October 23 as the next date of hearing.
After recording of evidences, the court summoned the record of the show "Ek Khiladi Ek Hasina" telecast on October four. The counsels for the complainants claimed religious feelings of Hindus were hurt by the acts of Harbhajan and his co-star actress Mona Singh.
On the other hand, a local Shiv Sena leader Sanjeev Sharma filed the complaint under different sections of IPC in a court in Jalandhar which fixed December 23 for recording his statement. Sharma alleged that Harbhajan's dance has deeply hurt sentiments of Hindus. The Akal Takht, the temporal seat of Sikhs, had earlier taken exception to Harbhajan's behaviour which, it said, had caused severe resentment among the community and had sought an apology from him. But there was no answer from him. Two years ago, Harbhajan had apologised after Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, the apex religious body of Sikhs, slammed the bowler for leaving his hair uncovered in an advertisement.
