Chandigarh: Engineering wing of the Chandigarh civic body on Wednesday carried out a special anti-encroachment drive in Hallomajra along the Chandigarh-Zirakpur highway and removed 17 temporary encroachment structures from gram panchayat land. During the enforcement drive, nearly 3.94 acres of govt land was made encroachment free.
On the occasion, the municipal commissioner emphasized that protection of public land remained one of the top priorities of the Chandigarh municipal corporation. He issued strict directions to all officers and field staff to maintain continuous vigilance against illegal encroachments and ensure immediate action wherever any unauthorised occupation is noticed.
The Commissioner categorically stated that no negligence, delay or laxity on the part of any official would be tolerated in matters related to encroachment control and safeguarding of govt land. He further directed all departments concerned to carry out regular inspections and continuous monitoring to prevent any fresh attempts of illegal occupation.
Reiterating the civic body’s commitment towards planned urban development and protection of public assets, the commissioner said strict enforcement measures were being undertaken across the city to maintain civic discipline and ensure proper utilization of govt land for public welfare purposes.
The municipal corporation will continue similar anti-encroachment drives in different parts of the city to keep public land free from illegal occupation and strengthen enforcement against unauthorised encroachments.
