BJP-backed candidate wins Sampla MC chairman’s post
Rohtak: In Sampla, the BJP has secured a major victory in the municipal polls, with party-backed candidate Praveen Coach emerging victorious by defeating independent candidate Ankit by a margin of 687 votes. Congress had not fielded any candidate for the chairman post from Sampla. According to the official results, Praveen Coach secured 4,391 votes, while Ankit finished second with 3,704 votes. The BJP also managed to win 5 out of the 16 councillor seats in the municipal body. After his victory, Coach thanked the people of Sampla for reposing faith in him, and assured that all promises made during the election campaign would be fulfilled. He promised that the BJP government would bring metro till Sampla from Bahadurgarh as it was an election promise made by him.He said the town has been facing serious issues related to water supply and sewerage, and efforts would be made to resolve them, although it may take time. He further added that he would work together with other candidates and stakeholders for the development of Sampla.BJP district president Ranbir Dhaka termed the victory historic, stating that Sampla was once considered a stronghold of late deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal and later of Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who currently represents the area assembly segment- Garhi-Sampla-Kiloi as MLA.
Dhaka pointed out that in the previous municipal election, the BJP candidate had lost by nearly 3,500 votes, making the current victory particularly significant. He also alleged that Hooda had become trapped in "family politics," the impact of which, he claimed, had already been reflected in the assembly elections.
