Amritsar: Customs officials at Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport have seized over 1.6 kg of 24-carat gold, valued at around Rs 2.6 crore, from a passenger.
According to a social media post by Amritsar Customs, the passenger arrived from Kuala Lumpur on Malaysia Airlines flight MH-119 and was intercepted upon arrival. During a detailed search, including personal frisking and baggage inspection, officials recovered 1,676 grams of 24K gold concealed in the form of a kada and a gold biscuit.
The gold was seized under relevant provisions of the Customs Act, and the passenger has been placed under arrest.
