Junior wrestler from Rohtak ends life with father’s licenced revolver
Rohtak: A 14-year-old junior wrestler allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself with his father's licenced revolver in Rohtak, the police said on Tuesday. As per the police, the deceased was a Class VIII student, and he was undergoing training and participating in wrestling competitions. The incident took place at the family's residence, and his body was found in a store room. The police said that the incident took place Monday evening. "Family members said they rushed to the spot after hearing a gunshot, and found the boy lying in a pool of blood with a bullet injury on his head," a police officer said. He was taken to hospital, where doctors declared him dead. IMT police station in-charge Ashwani Kumar said that in the preliminary investigation, its seems to be a case of suicide. "Statements of family members have been recorded, and the body has been handed over to the family after postmortem," the police officer added. He said that the revolver belonged to the victim's father and was licensed. A forensic team visited the spot and collected evidence. According to the police, the exact reason behind the extreme step is yet to be ascertained. A case has been registered under the relevant sections and further investigation is underway.
