Congress leaders protest on Mussoorie-Doon road, demand new bridge
Mussoorie: Congress leaders on Sunday staged a protest on the Mussoorie-Dehradun road near the Bailey bridge, accusing state govt of failing to construct a new bridge near Shiv Mandir in Mussoorie eight months after the original structure was washed away in a cloudburst on Sept 16.Former Mussoorie Municipal Council chairman Anuj Gupta criticised cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi for ‘inaction' on local development. "Bailey bridge is causing long traffic jams and posing inconvenience for tourists and locals, but Ganesh Joshi has failed to address the issue and build a new bridge," Gupta said.Although the PWD has prepared a detailed project report for a new bridge, construction has not yet begun. Congress leader Godavari Thapli warned that the party would raise public funds and begin construction if the govt does not act within two months.
