Ghaziabad lawyer drowns in Ganga in Haridwar
Haridwar: A 28-year-old lawyer from Ghaziabad, Utsav Johri, drowned in the Ganga at Subhash Ghat in Haridwar on Saturday night. Police said Utsav visited Haridwar with four friends, and they all went to take a dip in the river at night. Utsav crossed the safety railing and was swept away by the swift current. The friends were recording their visit when the incident happened, and a video soon started circulating on social media.After getting information, police divers started a search operation. City Police Station SHO Ritesh Sah told TOI, "A group of five tourists came to Haridwar on Saturday. They checked into a hotel and stepped out to take a dip in the Ganga. As per the preliminary inquiry, Utsav tried to jump into the river, crossed the safety railing, and was swept away. Soon after receiving the information, police teams rushed to the spot and started a search operation, but failed to trace him."
