Leopard spotted near school in Uttarkashi, residents seek action

Uttarkashi: A leopard was spotted near the govt inter college in Baldogi village of Chinyalisaur in Uttarkashi district on Friday, triggering concern among residents, school staff and students. CCTV cameras installed at the school captured the animal roaming on the campus. Villagers and teachers have demanded that the forest department capture the big cat at the earliest.School principal Amod Bhandari said leopard sightings around the college had increased in recent days. "Examinations are currently underway and students and teachers arrive and leave at different times. In such a situation, the animal could enter the campus during school hours," he said.Bhandari added that a leopard had attacked a motorcyclist in the area a few days ago, raising fears among residents. Forest range officer Jagmohan Gangadi said forest department teams were patrolling the area and sensor cameras would be installed to monitor the leopard's movement.
