Haridwar: A second-year MBBS student at AIIMS Rishikesh was caught allegedly trying to carry a mobile phone concealed inside his slipper into an examination hall, prompting the institute to initiate disciplinary proceedings.
The incident occurred during a class test in the academic building on Tuesday. The student was stopped during routine security checks and the device was recovered. Officials said an inquiry has been initiated in the matter. "The annual examinations are scheduled for May, and currently, internal class tests are being conducted. An inquiry has been set up, and appropriate action will follow," said Dr Sriloy Mohanty, public relations officer of AIIMS Rishikesh.
A video of the incident was later circulated on social media, drawing attention to the episode. Sources said the phone was allegedly intended for use during the exam.
