Police to seize Rs 6.7cr assets of drug traffickers to dismantle financial networks of narcotics trade
Rudrapur: Udham Singh Nagar police on Sunday initiated proceedings to attach illegal properties worth nearly Rs 6.7 crore belonging to two alleged drug traffickers, as part of a crackdown on narcotics in the district.The first case involves Rifaquat of Fatehganj West, Bareilly, who was arrested on Jan 1, 2025, after allegedly firing at police during a check in Pulbhatta. Authorities recovered 1,060 gms of smack and a country-made pistol. Investigation revealed assets worth Rs 3.7 cr, which police are now moving to attach under the NDPS Act. In a separate case, Sanjay Gupta of Rudrapur was allegedly linked to a major inter-state ganja network after police seized 434.7 kg of the drug from a vehicle on April 11, 2025. Assets worth Rs 3 cr, including properties and vehicles, are being attached under Section 68 (F) of the NDPS Act.SSP Ajay Ganpati said, "We are committed to dismantling the financial networks of drug traffickers and will attach properties acquired illegally. We urge the public to report drug activities; informants' identities will remain confidential."
