Dehradun: Amid the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran in West Asia, the Uttarakhand govt has appointed a senior police officer as nodal officer to assist residents of the state who are stranded, working or living in the region.
Senior IPS officer Nivedita Kukreti, currently serving as special secretary in the home department, has been tasked with addressing grievances and coordinating relief efforts. She will also liaise with the ministry of external affairs and Indian embassies in the affected countries.
The decision was formalised through an order issued by chief secretary Anand Bardhan on Saturday.
Officials said the nodal officer will facilitate assistance to Uttarakhand residents abroad and ensure coordination between state authorities, central agencies and district administrations.
State govt has also issued a helpline number (9411112792) and an email ID (dgc-police-ua@nic.in) for people seeking help.
Authorities have asked those reaching out to share key details, including the person's name, family information, country of residence, passport details, contact information, and address in Uttarakhand, to enable timely assistance.
