Karnataka Weather Live Updates: IMD predicts thunderstorms; heavy rainfall to lash several districts over next 3 days

In Yelahanka Old Town, over 10 houses were flooded, forcing residents to wade through waterlogged streets and clear the mess. Local residents expressed their frustration over the recurring problem of clogged stormwater drains.

• Lakshmi S, a resident, lamented, “Every year, we face this issue. The stormwater drains are either clogged or blocked. We've been complaining to BBMP, but nothing has changed.”
• Ganesh R, a local shop owner, blamed the lack of pre-monsoon preparedness, saying, “The drains are full of silt, and no one cleans them before the rains start. Who will compensate for my loss?”

According to rainfall data recorded until 6.30 pm, different parts of Bengaluru received varying amounts of rainfall.

• Northern Bengaluru experienced the heaviest downpour.
• Areas such as Hagadur and Vidyaranyapura recorded 31mm of rainfall.
• Western and southern parts of the city witnessed moderate showers, leading to localised flooding.

Frustrated with the city's crumbling infrastructure, residents took to social media to vent their ire. Many criticised the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for failing to maintain the drainage system.

• Nara Dharmendra Reddy (@NaraDharmendra) sarcastically posted, “It didn’t even rain. Just bacha (small) rain and see the waterlogging.”
• The Citizens Movement, East Bengaluru account tweeted, “Finally, the rain god has mercy on Bengaluru! The first rain of the year brings much-needed relief from the sweltering heat. However, true to tradition — a small rain and Bengaluru is already drowning.”
