Supreme Court on Monday summoned chief secretaries of UP, Punjab and Haryana to appear before it on Wednesday. SC said authorities would be held accountable for even a single incident of stubble burning and they will be prosecuted for contempt of court. There are 27 lakh farmers in Punjab and Haryana but in 2 years only 63,000 farmers have been given machines which have methods to use stubble instead of burning it. So at this speed it will take 30 years to give it to every farmer. Centre needs to prepare a month wise schedule for it

Union environment minister Prakash Javadekar on Monday lashed out the AAP government asking whether it was following the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) directives aimed at combating the severe air pollution in the national capital. Responding to questions over rising air pollution in the Delhi-NCR region, Javadekar said his ministry has already held several meetings with the neighbouring states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan over stubble burning.

Everyday 30 lakh cars ply on Delhi roads, and due to this odd-even scheme, atleast 15 lakh cars will be off the roads, so yes this will help in lowering pollution levels. I am happy that people are cooperating with us.

Vehicular emissions: A comparison
The first-ever high resolution emission inventory of major pollutants in Delhi-NCR, done by the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, under ministry of earth sciences (MoES), showed that the share of vehicular emissions increased not only in Delhi but also in the entire NCR in 2018 as compared to 2010. It showed increase in share of transport sector in overall PM2.5 emissions from 25.4% in 2010 to 41% in 2018 in the capital, and from 32.1% in 2010 to 39.1% in 2018 in the NCR.
