NEW DELHI: A 49-year-old auto driver died and another person was injured after a DTC bus rammed an autorickshaw near
north Delhi's Tis Hazari courts on Sunday. Police have arrested the bus driver.
Police said the driver suffered a sudden epileptic fit that led to the accident.
Police said they received aPCR call at 10. 57am on Sunday regarding the accident. A team from the local police station reached the spot and found that a DTC bus of route number 721, which was coming from the wrong side, had hit an autorickshaw.
"Inquiries revealed that the driver had suffered some type of epileptic fit due to which he could not control the bus," said deputy commissioner of police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi.
The bus went on to hit another vehicle. The auto driver, Mamchand, who lived in Gautampuri, sustained major injuries. He was first taken to a nearby hospital, from where he was referred to another hospital. He succumbed to his injuries there. The injured was identified as 28-year-old Shubham, a resident of Moti Nagar. Acase was registered and the bus driver arrested.
