HC summons Priya Kapur, Karisma Kapoor's kids as Sunjay Kapur's mom seeks to declare RK Family Trust null and void

NEW DELHI: Delhi high court on Thursday issued summons to late industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s wife, Priya Kapur, and others, including Sunjay’s children from second wife actor Karisma Kapoor, on a lawsuit filed by his 80-year-old mother seeking directions to declare “RK Family Trust”, constituted in her name, “null and void”.In her suit, Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur, alleged that “RK Family Trust” — formed in Oct 2017, five months after Sunjay married Priya, his third wife — was a product of “forged, fabricated and fraudulent” documents.Rani Kapur also sought a direction to permanently restrain the defendants — her daughter-in-law and grandchildren — from utilising or acting in furtherance of “RK Family Trust” in any manner.Justice Mini Pushkarna asked the defendants to file their written submissions and posted the matter for hearing on Mar 23. Rani’s plea said she is the sole beneficiary of the entire estate of her late husband, Surinder Kapur, who was the promoter of various businesses, including ‘Sona Group of Companies’, and a “systematic fraud” was committed on her when the assets were transferred to “RK Family Trust.”Till the time of his death in June 2025, Sunjay never confirmed to his mother that she was divested of all her rights, assets and legacy and never provided a copy of the purported RK Family Trust to her, the petition claimed.
