New Delhi: A 23-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband in northeast Delhi’s Welcome on Wednesday. After the incident, the accused went to the police station and reported the killing. He has been arrested.

Deepak, lived with his wife in Janta Mazdoor Colony. An officer said that around 1.30am, the man came to Welcome police station and informed police that he had strangled his wife.
A police team went to his rented accommodation, where the woman was found lying on the floor. She was taken to hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. The body has been sent for postmortem.
A murder case has been registered under Section 103(1) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Deepak told police that he worked as a confectioner and the couple used to have frequent domestic disputes over routine household issues such as cooking. “On the day of the incident, he returned home around midnight, and an argument broke out between the two. In a fit of rage, he killed his wife,” an officer said.
Last June, a 24-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband at a hotel in central Delhi’s Paharganj over suspicions of an extramarital affair. The crime came to light when the husband himself called the Uttar Pradesh police and confessed to the murder. He was subsequently arrested by
Delhi Police.
In Feb 2025, a similar incident was reported in northeast Delhi’s Nand Nagri. A 24-year-old man, Aman, surrendered at Harsh Vihar police station after allegedly killing his 20-year-old wife over suspicions of infidelity. Following his confession, a police team reached the spot and found the victim strangled. She was declared brought dead by hospital.
