NEW DELHI: The body of a 44-year-old Russian was found in a room in Intercontinental Hotel on Saturday afternoon. Pavel Shevtsov was a member of a Russian delegation which had come to Delhi on a cultural exchange programme.The police have ruled out any foul play but added that they recovered several bottles of hard liquor from the room where he was staying.
''It seems he consumed large quantity of liquor,'' a police officer said. He also added that the body had been sent for an autopsy. Initial investigation has also not shown any external injury marks on Shevtsov body.His body was found on the bed and the stomach was hardened, said the police. ''Other members of the delegation said they were not aware of the deceased suffering from any disease,'' the officer said. According to the police, Shevtsov delegation was in Delhi for quite sometime. ''His passport had a valid visa of three months,'' the officer said. The delegation had organised a party in Shevtsov's room (No 1123). ''They had drinks before going to the hotel's restaurant for dinner. It was followed by another drinking session,'' the officer said.
