Gaming addiction, school dropout, isolation: Key details in Ghaziabad-Loni sisters’ death case

Nishika (16), Prachi (14), and Pakhi (12) reportedly jumped from a ninth-floor window in Bharat City Society, Loni, Ghaziabad.

The sisters reportedly jumped around 2:15 am from the temple room window. Using a chair placed near the window, they climbed and jumped one after another.

All three sisters had reportedly not attended school since the Covid-19 pandemic. Nishika, the eldest at 16, was enrolled only in Class 4, highlighting prolonged educational disruption and the isolation faced by the children during their formative years.

Investigators revealed the sisters were reportedly addicted to a Korean task-based online gaming application. Their parents had repeatedly reprimanded them and recently barred them from using the app, which may have contributed to their extreme actions.

A note titled “True Life Story” was found, written in Hindi-English mix, it apologised to their father and indicated the sisters wanted their experiences to be understood.

Police confirmed the deaths upon arrival at the scene. The sisters were taken by ambulance to a 50-bed hospital in Loni, where doctors declared them dead. Bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

The sisters were reportedly so absorbed in the online game that they began addressing each other with Korean names. Parents had repeatedly warned them about excessive gaming, restricting access to the app in the days preceding the tragedy

Police and ambulance teams took the girls to a 50-bed hospital in Loni, where doctors declared all three deceased. The prompt response confirmed the fatalities and secured the scene for investigation.

Officials are examining family circumstances, psychological factors, and online activity as part of the investigation, including the sisters’ isolation, educational disruption, and potential triggers linked to their gaming habits.

Police are analysing digital evidence, handwritten notes, and diaries to understand the context of the tragedy. Authorities are assessing all aspects, including online activity, family life, and mental well-being of the sisters.
