‘Pressured to marry him’: Faridabad woman accuses ex-colleague of stalking, sexual assault, arson; FIR filed
GURGAON: A case of stalking and harassment took a dangerous turn on Thursday night when it escalated into an attempted arson in Faridabad's Palla. A 21-year-old woman alleged that a former colleague, Sujit Pal Singh from Delhi's Madanpur Khadar, poured petrol on the main door of her house and set it ablaze while her family was inside. The woman, who lives in Sector 91, has lodged a complaint at Palla police station, accusing Singh of stalking, criminal intimidation, sexual harassment, circulating obscene material, cyber harassment, blackmail, and attempting to set her house on fire. According to the complaint, the woman first met Singh in 2024 while working as an accountant in Noida, where they entered a relationship. However, she distanced herself upon finding that Singh was already married. Singh refused to accept her decision, pressuring her to marry him and threatening her with dire consequences, police said. The woman claims Singh threatened to kill her and harm her family, including her sister and brother-in-law in Agra, to force her compliance. She also accused Singh of sexual exploitation, claiming he once forcibly took her to a room near Kheri Pul and sexually assaulted her against her will. The harassment intensified online in mid-2025, she alleged.
In July, the woman claimed Singh hacked her WhatsApp account and circulated nude photographs to her mother and other contacts. She alleged the photos were taken without her consent while she was unconscious and later used for blackmail. Singh threatened to post photographs on social media if she did not meet him. The situation reached a critical point on Thursday night when Singh allegedly arrived at the woman's house in Palla, poured petrol on the main gate, and set it ablaze, causing panic among family members. She stated that her entire family is living in fear and noted that Singh had previously gone to Agra on Oct 30, 2025, to intimidate her relatives.
