3 B’deshis, Indian aide held in Tripura

Agartala: Three Bangladeshi nationals and an Indian accomplice were arrested by the Border Security Force (BSF) for allegedly attempting to cross the India-Bangladesh border illegally through the Kadamtala sector in North Tripura.The arrests were made near Bajendranagar village under Kadamtala Police Station on Sunday night when personnel of BSF’s 97 Battalion detained the group during a routine patrol.The suspects were handed over to police and a case was registered under Sections 21 and 23(A) of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025. They were produced before the Dharmanagar District Court, where police sought custody.The Bangladeshi detainees were identified as Liton Mia (37) of Sreemangal, and Sabuj Mia (25) and Sayel Mia (30), both from Moulvibazar district. The Indian national arrested with them was Manik Roy (42), an auto-rickshaw driver from North Dhanichhara village under Pecharthal Police Station in Unakoti district.Investigators said the Bangladeshi nationals had entered India illegally through the Asharambari border areas of Khowai district about four months ago and were involved in fish fingerling trade in the Pecharthal area.Police said the group planned to return to Bangladesh with the alleged help of local human trafficker Sushil Das and his son Sanjay Das, who allegedly agreed to facilitate the crossing for ₹3,000. Investigators said Roy transported the group to Bajendranagar in his auto-rickshaw posing as fish traders, and they were intercepted by BSF as they prepared to cross into Bangladesh.Police launched a manhunt for Sushil Das and Sanjay Das, who are absconding.
