Silchar: A youth was arrested in Guwahati for allegedly posting ‘objectionable’ remarks against CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on social media, sparking outrage in the Sonai area of Cachar district.The post was made by the accused on Saturday, police said. The accused has been identified as Titu Laskar, a resident of Sonai. The post went viral, leading to communal tension and eliciting reactions from Sonai residents. In repsonse, Saharul Alam Sheikh, the vice-chairman of the Sonai Municipal Board, lodged a formal written complaint at the Sonai police station seeking legal action.Based on the complaint, a case was registered and a probe was launched. Digital surveillance helped investigators trace the accused to Guwahati.The accused was brought back to Sonai on Wednesday. Police officials said the accused is currently being interrogated.
