Mizoram ginger project launched with Rs 189.78cr outlay under DoNER
Aizawl: Mizoram’s “Ginger Unique Selling Proposition (USP) – Sustainable Cultivation & Value Chain Development Project” with an outlay of Rs. 189.78 crore was jointly inaugurated on Wednesday through a virtual programme by CM Lalduhoma and Union minister for development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia.The inauguration was held at the CM's Office under the chairmanship of Lalduhoma and attended by horticulture minister C Lalsawivunga, adviser to the CM Dr KC Lalmalsawmzauva, chief secretary Khilli Ram Meena and senior state officials. Scindia joined from New Delhi, while officials from the Ministry of DoNER and ginger farmers from Champhai district participated online.Addressing the programme, Lalduhoma said the Ministry of DoNER had recognized Mizoram ginger as a Unique Selling Proposition (USP) and approved the Rs. 189.78 crore project for sustainable cultivation and value chain development. He said the project will focus on Sustainable Cultivation, Quality Control & Food Safety, Farm Mechanisation & Solarisation, and Post-Harvest Management & Processing, with other components to be implemented in convergence with schemes of various ministries. He added that the Post-Harvest Management & Processing component will receive Gap Funding support from the North Eastern Council (NEC)’s Focused Development Component (FDC).
