Newlywed couple dies in road crash

Haveri: A couple, married on Feb 13, died in a road crash at Neeralagi Cross in Shiggaon taluk on National Highway 48 on Sunday.The deceased have been identified as Karthik Hugar, 34, and Aishwarya Hugar, 30, residents of Haveri. The accident occurred when their car rammed a parked lorry at around 5am.Family sources said that Karthik took his wife, his brother-in-law, and a friend to Navalgund to have darshan of Kamadeva, installed on account of Holi Hunnime there. "The couple sought blessings to have a child by the next year. Karthik worked at a cooperative society in Haveri," they added.Police personnel and fire & emergency services personnel struggled to remove the bodies from the car, which was completely damaged in the crash.They also said that Aishwarya's father, visited the crash spot, suffered a heart attack and was admitted to a hospital. The crash took place at Neeralagi Cross, hometown of deceased Aishwarya.Two injured persons, Mallikarjun and Vinayak, were admitted to KMC-RI Hospital in Hubballi, where doctors said their condition was critical.Tadas police have registered a case.
