Duryodhana bore 41 cuts
HYDERABAD: If only the Telangana votaries had watched the uncensored 'Operation Duryodhana', their reception to the movie would have been perhaps more violent. The Censor Board, which was aghast at the Telangana bashing that happened in the movie, directed as many as 41 cuts. Apart from this, at least 20 more 'sub-cuts' were ordered. Most of the cuts pertained to poking fun at the separate Telangana state demand.
Since the movie adopted such a critical stance on a highly controversial political subject, the Censor Board had to give it an 'A' certificate.

"The Censor Board felt only those above 18 years of age who had the maturity to view the film and understand it in its context could watch it. The maximum number of cuts were also ordered because it was felt that they would hurt a certain section of the people," T Vijay Kumar Reddy, regional officer, Central Board of Film Certification said. According to Censor Board sources, most of the cuts were ordered because apart from making fun of the Telangana issue and taking a dig at it, there was also veiled criticism of the leadership of the Telangana movement.
Even as opposition to the film by Telangana activists continued on Monday with some protests being organised at a Moosapet theatre, the film's director Posana Krishnamurali told TOI that the objectionable dialogues in the movie would be deleted.
"My idea was not to hurt anybody but only to make an appeal to people not to create confusion in the name of dividing the state. I only wanted to express my concern at some politicians trying to create a rift between the people of the state by provoking regional feelings," director Posani Krishnamurali said on Monday.
Krishnamurali said the fact that he had used comedians to send the message across meant that he did not want a more serious approach to handling the issue in his film.
After the controversy 'Operation Duryodhana' has created, the Censor Board is now trying to see if the dialogues which appear in the movie are among the cuts that it had ordered while clearing the movie.
