HYDERABAD: A fortune teller was lynched on Thursday morning by villagers in Chandanagar who mistook him for a thief. Chandanagar police said the fortune teller, K Satyanarayana, 47, was a resident of Gopannapally. He was found moving in the area in an inebriated condition by the locals of Sri Krishna Colony in Nallagandla village at around 2 am on Thursday.

Suspecting him to be a thief, they nabbed him, tied him to a pole and beat him up severely. He was let off only in the morning, Chandanagar inspector M Madhusudhan Reddy said.
Satyanarayana got himself admitted to hospital in the morning and succumbed while undergoing treatment. Police booked a murder case under Sec 302 (murder) and nabbed villagers Sidhu, Gopal, Anjaneyulu, Swamy, Venkatesh and Surendar Reddy, on Friday who allegedly beat the fortune teller.
